I fell down a Generation X rabbit hole the other day. I saw the chromed-out cover to issue #1 and i was instantly 11 years old again, buying a copy with my allowance money from mowing the lawn. I remember being so excited for that book. The X-Men cartoon was on TV, mutants were all the rage, and the idea of brand new teenage mutants with brand new powers had me in anticipation of that book for months. To this day, I think Chamber still has such a unique visual. Great design by Chris Bachalo. I went to dig out my copies and I couldn't find them. Don't know if I loaned them out and never got them back or maybe they were a victim of my semi regular comic purges. Of course I took to eBay to buy back a small piece of my childhood.
Daily Sketch: Chamber
Back in the good ole' days of the mid 90's, there was an X-Men book called "Generation X" about the next generation of teenaged mutants. I really loved the book at the time, and thought a lot of the character designs and powers were really fresh and unique. Chamber was a guy full of psionic energy inside him that burst through his body after an accident ripped apart his chest and jaw, leaving him disfigured and glowing. Gnarly. I busted out the pens and markers for this one, in preparation of doing commissions at C2E2 next week.
